| Revive UsApparently God has been working on the hearts and minds on the people at Dear Ole' Asbury. For the past week Hughes Auditorium has been filled with worshipers giving God the respect and praise he deserves.
I haven't stopped by personally but I have heard about it from numerous people. And it suprises me, a little. While Asbury does not hide the fact that it is a Christian College a common outsider might not notice until hearing about the mandatory Chapels and other restrictive "Community" rules.
During my short time at Asbury I noticed a common dis-interest in God, especially within my class. A lot of people went through the motions but it was apparent that God was not number 1. It disheartened me and my relationship with God suffered because of it. I had to leave to refocus my life and my relationship with God.
But what happened during the past week gave me hope. It shows me that God can turn dis-interest into passion and conviction. While I hate how the school publicizes their revivals more than their academics, I thank God for what he is doing to the students at Asbury....
Go Steadfast!!
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

| The Job
So I'm a workin' man now. Its been a reatively slow week because my boss has been sick and I don't have an official project to work on yet. Basically for the past couple of days I've been debugging the builder code for our software product. I'm slowly getting my feet wet and am getting the hang of independent work assignments. I'm so used to people always telling me what to do....its a hard adjustment.
Along with working, I'm also taking a Computer Ethics and Law class. Its turned out to be fairly interesting yet abstract. Computer Law is so hard to define because of the abstract nature of the computer....outside of the Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technology fields, most truely don't understand what is going on (and/or don't care). So it makes for interesting conversation and good debate.
So my semester is going to be jammed packed. With work and class, its going to be a wild ride. Hope to see you on the other side... | | |
| Reflecting on 2005 (for an extra second)I think the year ended up being both exciting and terrifying. I mean...look at the world. We're supposed to be experiencing the most enlightened and advanced period of civilization ever. But what do we have? Starving families all around the world...disease running widespread...corrpution...greed...war.
I think we all get caught up in some dream....maybe the American Dream. You know...the dream that we'll live forever with 20 cars, a mansion by the beach, and all the cash in the world. Reality never hits because we never think reality is real. If some poor soldier dies in Iraq tonight...do you think about it? What about his family? His friends? Do you think about all the people in the world that is affected by his (and/or her) death?
Think on the larger scale...was 2005 all that great?
